Synthetic wigs are simple to wash and dry in minutes, maintaining the style. Love that! Watch the video or follow the simple steps below to keep your synthetic wig fresh and looking amazing!!
Synthetic wigs need washing every 10 to 20 wears, depending on how much product or environmental exposure (smoke, dust, humidity) it encounters.
Use any good brush (I love a paddle brush, they are great at smoothing synthetic wigs as you brush and don’t create static) to gently work through any tangles before washing, starting from the ends and moving up. Synthetic fibres can tangle if washed while knotted.
Always use cool to warm water, not hot, as this can cause the fibres to lose their shape, texture, or curl pattern permanently.
Add a small amount of the shampoo of your choice into a basin or clean bucket of luke warm water. Submerge the wig and gently swish through the water for around 1-2 minutes — avoid any scrubbing.
Now, what to use- Regular shampoo formulated for human hair is expensive and not necessary and honestly neither is any synthetic specific shampoo. You can clean your wig just as well with any supermarket shampoo and conditioner that you like the smell of, you can even use baby shampoo, followed by conditioner.
Rinse thoroughly under warm running water holding the wig by the cap rather than the hair itself.
Apply conditioner all over the wig and allow to sit for 10 mins or so before rinsing
Gently press out excess water with a towel on a fat surface. Never twist, wring, or rub the fibres, as this can cause frizzing and tangling
Air dry on a wig stand, or laying on a towel. If you leave it in the sunlight it will dry super fast so don’t leave it out all day. While the wigs are heat safe, they air dry so fast there is no need to use unnecessary heat and dry them with a hairdryer
