HOW TO KEEP YOUR HAIR HEALTHY WHEN WEARING A LACE FRONT WIG

We want to make sure every girl who wears our wigs has a great experience. A Lace Fronts wig is supposed to make your uniqueness visible and give you the style you always wanted. The last thing we want is that you use your wig incorrectly and end up damaging your wig or more importantly your own hair.

We often get the same question from concerned clients, will a lace front wig destroy my regular hair? No! if used properly and maintained a lace front wig will not harm your natural hair, even with the use of glue you should be fine to wear your lace front wig and keep your natural locks healthy.

One of the reasons lace front wigs are preferred to traditional wigs is lace fronts are designed to make your hairline look more natural. Unlike other wigs a part can look very realistic on a lace front. You can also change where your part lies on most lace front wigs, giving you more versatility over a regular wig. What is a common misassumption is that it is necessary to use harmful glue to do this.

THERE IS A RIGHT WAY AND A VERY WRONG WAY TO WEAR THIS TYPE OF WIG.

If worn the wrong way you can potentially harm your scalp and hair by using the wrong glue or attaching incorrectly. Luckily it is simple and easily done right to avoid getting in any sticky situations. Make sure to follow all the instructions you receive when you get your lace front wig. It is important to get the basics right to avoid making any mistakes that could lead to hair damage. Some wigs will have different fitting instructions so make sure to follow those that are applicable to your unique  lace front wig.

HERE ARE SOME EASY TIPS TO GO IN HAND WITH YOUR INSTRUCTIONS.

Secure your natural hair properly. If your hair is long you may want to braid it or wrap it tightly so that it is secured to your scalp. Make sure that you use a wig cap so that you get the best fit and so that your natural hair is safe and secure. It is important to make sure your hair is secure before applying any adhesive.

YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO USE GLUE ALL THE TIME!

At lace fronts our wigs are so expertly designed that commonly we will wear them without any glue. Because of their shape and style they are easily attachable and commonly look great with no glue.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE GLUE THEN MAKE SURE TO USE THE RIGHT GLUE.

This is so simple but it amazes us how many girls will use the wrong glues for their wigs. Check out our gluing tutorial on our website for which glue we recommend (https://www.lacefronts.com.au/pages/gluing-down-your-wig)  There are glues made specifically for securing lace fronts in place. It is not hard to do a little research online and at your local shops to find out what is available in your area. This isn’t the time to pull out lash glue or glue designed for craft projects. The first time you use any glue you should dab a little on your arm to make sure that you are not allergic. You want to use a glue that is mild and not going to hurt your skin.

MAKE SURE TO BE GENTLE WHEN REMOVING YOUR WIG AFTER A BIG NIGHT OUT.

We know how tempting it can be to just pull it off with no care or to leave it on too long, however if you do you are putting yourself at risk of hurting your scalp.  Don’t take off your lace wig when you’re rushed. The glues that we recommend are always water soluble, so use nice warm water and gently remove the wig. Slowly take the wig off, evenly across your scalp. Don’t pull at it from one angle expecting it to swoop straight off. Be patient and gradually remove it. If you feel any resistance go slowly and take your time.

A lace front wig can make you feel glamorous and make daily styling a breeze. But make sure to look after your natural hair while wearing them. Give your hair the time and attention it deserves. Check out our full range of lace front wigs online and order your next look today.
