How do you keep human hair wigs soft?

Human hair wigs are probably the best accessory that one can carry. With a power to instantly take one’s look notches higher, human hair wigs have gained a lot of popularity among the masses. During the course of time, however, there will come a time when your wig would lose its natural bounce. It would then begin to feel stiff and dry. Since human hair wigs are not moisturised by natural oil that is produced by the scalp, they need to be maintained on an everyday basis. This is why it’s important to pay attention to quality and buy only from the trusted sources. The more attention you pay to their maintenance and quality, the longer they would last.

IF YOUR LACE FRONT HUMAN HAIR WIG HAS LOST ITS CHARM, HERE ARE A FEW STEPS TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE-

1)    PRE WASH

Giving your human hair wig enough nourishment is necessary. A good natural oil such as extra virgin oil, coconut oil, grape-oil seed and extra virgin olive oil must be applied along the entire length for the purpose. Alternatively, a moisturising conditioner can also be used. The oil or conditioner must be kept on hair for 30 minutes under a shower cap.

2)    WASHING AND MOISTURISING THE WIG

Use a moisturising or specially formulated shampoo to wash the human hair wig. Also, clean the scalp using fingers carefully and rinse thoroughly. A moisturising conditioner needs to be applied from the scalp base to the hair tips. The same must be allowed to sit for some time before it is rinsed. Any tangles that you find while rinsing must be weaved using fingers or a comb.

3)    DEEP CONDITIONING THE WIG

A deep conditioner must be applied and left for 15 minutes or so. A shower cap can be worn to trap the heat and make the conditioner more effective. Rinse thoroughly after the estimated time and squeeze out all the excessive water. Also, apply a bit of heat protecting product at this stage.

4)    DRYING THE WIG

We recommend always letting your wig air dry. If you must dry your hair quickly then we recommend using a dryer on a low heat setting. Keep combing while doing so and follow it up with a brush to straighten. Once the hair are completely dry, a flat iron can be used to straighten it or curling iron to produce bouncy curls. Starting from the front, the entire wig can be styled the way you want to.

5)    WHILE SLEEPING

A silk or satin scarf must be wrapped around the head at night to prevent your hair from drying out and suffer from damage. However, if possible we recommend not sleeping in your wig.

PREVENTING HUMAN HAIR WIG TANGLES

It is normal for a wig to entangle around the neck. This happens because of the friction created in back and shoulder region. The best way to prevent tangles is to brush the wig and condition it every time you wash it. Also, use a bit of oil occasionally to prevent it from drying out. There are special products available in the market that can be tried as well.

By keeping these things in mind and following all the instructions carefully, all types of wigs whether glue-less wigs or any other can be maintained for a long time to come.
