Allocation Criteria

Synthetic Hair Wig: Eligible consumers under Band 1-2 can receive funding for up to 2 synthetic hair wigs within a 12-month period. The maximum funding per wig is $300.

Human Hair Wig: Eligible consumers under Band 1-2 can receive funding for 1 human hair wig every 3 years. The maximum funding is $2000. Consumers under Band 3 are eligible for $1600 funding towards the cost of the wig over 3 years.

Eligibility

To qualify for funding, the applicant must meet certain criteria:

• Hair loss must have been present for over 12 months.
• Treatment for hair loss must have been tried and failed, or it was considered unsuitable.
• The applicant should have a diagnosis of specific conditions resulting in 80% permanent hair loss, such as Alopecia areata totalis, Alopecia areata universalis, or Lichen planus.
• The item (wig) must be required due to at least 80% permanent hair loss resulting from conditions like skin grafts.

Application Process

Fill out an EnableNSW Application Form and also a Wig Request Form. Your doctor needs to fill out the Wig Request Form.

Make sure to attach the quote Lace Fronts Australia provides that indicates how much the wig will cost.

Remember, EnableNSW won't give you money back if you already bought a wig.

If they say yes to your request, EnableNSW will connect with Lace Fronts Australia. Should your choice of wig cost more than what EnableNSW gives, you will have to pay the difference.

• Medical Specialists
• General Practitioners (only if no longer under the care of a Medical Specialist)

Exclusions

• EnableNSW does not provide funding for wigs related to temporary hair loss, chemotherapy, or medication use.
• Wigs for hair loss due to conditions like Alopecia areata, Trichotillomania, or Androgenic alopecia are not covered.
• Partial hairpieces, hairdressing, repairs, and wig care products are also excluded.
